With their new Hotel Grand Ferdinand, the Weitzers have raised the standard in international luxury destinations—which of course would simply not be complete without Lobmeyr chandeliers. To our delight, we were consulted in the early stages of this project. The hotel lobby features a magnificent 1880 Neo-Renaissance Lobmeyr chandelier hanging above a stuffed horse. The luxury hotel chose a chandelier with real candles here—simply breathtaking! In the end, however, the labour safety inspectors did not approve, and the chandelier had to be electrified. The rooftop restaurant is crowned by an antique gilded wooden chandelier, and several of the luxurious suites are also decorated with Lobmeyr lighting, including a small baroque chandelier and our muslin glass chandeliers—something very special, as Lobmeyr chandeliers are only rarely seen in hotel rooms. The Weitzers chose to diverge from the well-worn path of the hotel industry in other ways as well; for example, they offer a dormitory that can be booked via Airbnb.
