Stephan Weishaupt used his sensitivity and character to create something that did not yet exist at such a high level on the North American continent. He gathered together the most outstanding European furnishing and accessory brands, and soon began developing his own collections. Collaborating with designer duo Yabu-Puschelberg from the beginning, Avenue Road now has showrooms in New York, Toronto, Miami Beach, Vancouver, and other cities.
Chandeliers and crystal from Lobmeyr are well represented throughout.
The Avenue Road in Toronto—at over 2,000 square metres one of the store’s most spacious showrooms—is located in a former Victorian warehouse near the downtown area. Studio Sebastian Herkner came up with a novel room divider system that can be continually reconfigured to create ever new floor plans. In a nod to the brand’s early days, a gallery-like entrance with displays and pedestals was chosen for this shop.
