Marco Dessí (*1976 in Merano, Italy) is the founder of the eponymous multidisciplinary design studio based in Vienna.
“We greatly appreciate Marco’s inventive, technical approach, which, combined with his Italian temperament and wonderful understanding of culture, brings fantastic results,”
says Leonid Rath, managing director of Lobmeyr.
The Dessi x Lobmeyr cooperation began with the “Grip” series (Drinking Set No.281) based off the simple Loos service (Drinking Set No.248) and extended research visits to the glass cutting studio. The Alphablast decor on the No.267 “Alpha”was spontaneously created for the Foodmarketo project in Apartamento magazine in 2010. This was followed by the“ Basket” chandelier, inspired by classic glass arm chandeliers, and later the more technical “Knight” chandelier.
After a technical apprenticeship, Dessí studied Industrial Design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since 2008 he has been working for international clients and businesses, including Wittmann, Thonet, Richard Lampert, Lobmeyr, Augarten, Lodes, and the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts and Contemporary Art in Vienna. Dessí sees design as an interactive process, with a focus on experience and collaboration. He always begins a new task with an in-depth study of the client, their production methods, and their potential—an absolute must for elegant contemporary design with aesthetic timelessness.
