About us
J. & L. Lobmeyr was founded in Vienna in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr—over 200 years ago. We quickly became purveyor to the Imperial Court. A love of the material, an emotional relationship to the product, and personal commitment has defined each generation. Lobmeyr glasses are still blown, cut, engraved, and polished entirely by hand. All of our lighting products are manufactured at our atelier workshops in the heart of Vienna. The Lobmeyr company focuses on a contemporary interpretation of glass and light, and never stops cultivating its heritage. The old inspires the new, and traditional knowledge facilitates innovation. Together with designers like Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos in the past, and today Ted Muehling, formafantasma, and Michael Anastassiades among others, we create fine handmade crystal and chandeliers that are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world.

Cinema meets craftsmanship: at this year’s MATTER and SHAPE design salon in Paris, the iconic Viennese brand Lobmeyr collaborates with filmmaker and curator Luca Guadagnino, bringing together cinematic storytelling and centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Presented in the Jardin des Tuileries during Paris Fashion Week, the project explores how objects can move between art, design and atmosphere.

LOBMEYR x LUCA GUADAGNINO
at MATTER and SHAPE
many of you will already be familiar with Matter and Shape, the high-quality design fair in Paris, now in its third year. After having presented numerous new products over the past decades, we now want to surprise with a new context. At the first edition in 2024 we started this format in Paris with formafantasma and last year Laila Gohar created a stage for Lobmeyr.
This year, we are delighted to collaborate with maestro Luca Guadagnino on Matter and Shape, in partnership with architect Andrea Bonatti. The renowned Italian filmmaker and designer will create a distinctive setting for Lobmeyr’s fine glassware and lighting. Having worked with Lobmeyr for many years, he deeply values the brand’s heritage and its unwavering dedication to excellence in both quality and design. Furniture by Guglielmo Ulrich from Luca Guadagnino’s private collection will frame the glassware, subtly evoking the spirit of the 100th anniversary of Art Deco.
