About us
J. & L. Lobmeyr was founded in Vienna in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr—over 200 years ago. We quickly became purveyor to the Imperial Court. A love of the material, an emotional relationship to the product, and personal commitment has defined each generation. Lobmeyr glasses are still blown, cut, engraved, and polished entirely by hand. All of our lighting products are manufactured at our atelier workshops in the heart of Vienna. The Lobmeyr company focuses on a contemporary interpretation of glass and light, and never stops cultivating its heritage. The old inspires the new, and traditional knowledge facilitates innovation. Together with designers like Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos in the past, and today Ted Muehling, formafantasma, and Michael Anastassiades among others, we create fine handmade crystal and chandeliers that are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world.

The grapes for the Julien Renard Riesling come from vines older than 20 years. They grow on slate. After a manual harvest, the grapes are pressed with a lot of whole clusters. The wine spends 17 months on the yeast in stainless steel as well as used oak barrels. The wine is not filtered, not fined and no sulphur was added. The overall SO2 level is 28 mg / l. However, Julien is keen on mentioning that his wine is neither organic, nor a natural wine.

We thought our anniversary of 100 years presentation at the Art Deco fair in Paris would be a good occasion. Venetian glass tradition is about free shaping and seeing glass as something fluid and as a bubble. And for example the Haerdtl #lobmeyrambassador series resembles some Venetian Renaissance goblets. Still the Lobmeyr classics being presented might look light and free blown but they want to keep the perfect moment and so we blow them in molds and care a lot about the detail to make them perfect. Both approaches have their quality.
