Designer
POLKA is the studio of Vienna-based designers Marie Rahm and Monica Singer.
After graduating from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Monica Singer began working part-time for Lobmeyr at the recommendation of Lothar Trierenberg – first in graphic design, and then also creating a ground-breaking design and advertising strategy.
She created the “Josephine” decanter as an object for personal everyday rituals. She later designed a set of wine glasses together with Marie Rahm and Viennese winemakers, the “Wiener Gemischter Satz”, and the “Drop” series of flower vases.
Since 2004, the two have been successfully developing projects for Austrian and international customers and manufacturers. Their key focus is on interior design, product design, and design consulting. The two designers have a passion for studying every detail of traditional products and cultures and using this knowledge to create new and contemporary solutions for their customers. POLKA stands for everyday elegance, for sophisticated yet playful design.
